The Government of Mongolia have been approved the Intellectual Property National Strategy. The main purposes of the Strategy is to develop the knowledge based economy in Mongolia and increase the placement at the international level by encouraging innovators and creators, support their inventions, to create legal warm environment and increase the number of Intellectual Property users.
The core-implementing agency is The General Authority for Intellectual Property and State Registration of Mongolia. As the Association of Mongolian Intellectual Property Agents (AMIPA) with tight relationship of the National IP Office (GAIPSR), with the participation of member companies in the various kinds of Intellectual Property seminars, we are keen to expand their intellectual property rights in new businesses and establish competitive advantages with existing operations in accordance with its strategy.
On that account we are working to bring a general understanding to public on green technology and innovation as a green IP, to promote national branding nationwide, IP valuation, franchising system, promotional activities on geographical indications, etc.
In summary, there will be established the IP National Council, who will monitor and work actively for its development to bring the valuable outcome at the national level comprising all related institutions, research centers and organizations.
Representatives of the AMIPA have participated in the Conference “Issues on Protection and Economic Circulation of Intellectual Creative Activity Outcome – Technology and Innovation Support Center and SME”.
The representatives from all countries have been presented papers which included “Intellectual Property Sector Development in the Russian Federation”, “National Strategy on Development of Intellectual Property System in Mongolia”, “Intellectual Property Protection in the PRC”, “Issues on Economic Circulation of Intellectual Property in the PRC and Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises”, “Development of Technology and Innovation Support Centers in the Russian Federation”, “Intellectual Property Market Development in Tatarstan” and “Technology and Innovation Support Centers and Supporting Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Mongolia”. All participants were discussed and exchanged opinions during the Conference and further development trends, best practices and achievement of intellectual property sector of the 3 neighbor countries. The participants are IP agents and attorneys, researchers of the Science and Technology University, officials of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, representatives of the Science Academy of Mongolia and officials of the IP Office of Mongolia.

The Association of Mongolian Intellectual Property Agents has successfully organized the training “Intellectual Property Law” between 13th and 14th of June 2016. New agents who successfully took official examination for intellectual property agents in April 2016 and members of the Association attended to this training. The training was conducted by experienced agents who have carried out activities of intellectual property agent for many years and members of the Board of Directors of the Association.
At the two-day training, interesting papers regarding copyright matters, patent law, basics of trademark, intellectual property comparison of Russia and Mongolia, and intellectual property system of Japan were presented. Particularly, patent researcher Ya. Tsend-Ayush, as an experienced patent agent, shared his experience regarding intellectual property law comparison of Russia and Mongolia.

The Association of Mongolian Intellectual Property Agents has successfully organized sports and arts events on April 17 and April 26, 2016 for the World Intellectual Property Day and Intellectual Property Protection Day in Mongolia.
During the friendly sports event, men’s basketball, volleyball and table tennis matches were organized between teams of the Intellectual Property Organization, Music Development NGO and the Association of Mongolian Intellectual Property Agents and the team of the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia won the movable cup.
Every year, the 26th of April is celebrated as the World Intellectual Property Day and Intellectual Property Protection Day in Mongolia and due to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia has been celebrated on this day. On the occasion of this anniversary, the AMIPA has organized an honorary reception inviting all member of the Association and officials from the IP Office. During the event, the AMIPA has given awards named after it to S.Urangerel, Director of the Industrial Property Division, E.Odgerel, specialist of the Policy Coordination Division, L.Gerelmaa, trademark expert, and P.Tsoggerel, invention expert of the IP Office by evaluating their efforts. Mongolian famous singer B.Sarantuya, singers Uurintuya and Javkhaasaikhan, and rapper Gee have performed their songs for the anniversary event.
The Intellectual Property Office, Implementing Agency of the Government of Mongolia and the Association of Mongolian Intellectual Property Agents have concluded the Cooperation Agreement. The purpose of this Cooperation Agreement is to take and implement certain measures in relation to improving activities of Intellectual Property Agents and legal environment, increasing their knowledge and skills, organize various IP related trainings and enhancing services for citizens and business entities based on the Government Resolution # 111 dated June 28, 1995 regarding Approving General Procedures for Entrustment and Performance of Special Functions of State Executive Body or Specific Functions of Subsector by Non-Governmental Organization.
